Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for the strategic planning, design, and optimization of network systems across the organization. This role involves developing advanced network solutions using both current and emerging technologies, with a focus on wireless infrastructure. By translating business needs into effective network designs, the engineer recommends the appropriate hardware, software, and architecture. They ensure compliance by reviewing and updating network configurations and designs, manage configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless hubs, and stay informed of new products and technologies. Additionally, the Network Engineer proactively monitors network performance, conducts capacity planning, and provides suggestions for improvement. They are adept at troubleshooting and implementing effective resolution protocols and take on a Project Leader role for large-scale, enterprise-wide network initiatives. Job Responsibilities Expertly configure and manage network components from DMARC to workstations, including fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and network topology, ensuring high Quality of Service (QoS). Plan, implement, and forecast moderate-complexity copper and fiber network systems, including wireless, while managing resources effectively. Mentor junior team members in areas like patch management, fault identification, and data/telecom access. Extensive experience with enterprise switching products, including capacity and risk assessments, contingency planning, and lifecycle management. Actively participate in team projects, meetings, and assignments. Demonstrate strong knowledge of the OSI model and data flow throughout the environment. Configure and manage network switch equipment for protocol compatibility, system tuning, and making recommendations for enhancement. Strategize the replacement of infrastructure equipment, maintaining adherence to security standards and ensuring system updates. Collaborate with the Information Security Team on firewall rules and compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards. Follow departmental procedures and policies, including on-site travel for resolving issues and deploying resources. Accurately track incidents and IT equipment transfers/relocation through the service desk ticketing system. Document technology solutions for resolving issues and streamlining processes. Contribute to Property Management Reports (PMRs) and ensure accurate tracking. Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support (evenings and weekends). Perform additional duties as required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary. Travel to remote locations to provide network support as needed. Required Skills Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
