Skills & Experience Required:


Seeking Network Engineers with a minimum of 8+ years of experience, ideally 10+, with a strong background in Cisco switch refresh projects. Candidates must have recent, hands-on experience with Cisco switch refreshes, including configuration and deployment.


Technical Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with Cisco switch/router upgrades – specifically refreshing older equipment (10–12 years old) with new hardware such as Cisco 9300, 9410, 9500, and 9606 core switches.
  • Layer 3 switching expertise, including a deep understanding of:
  • OSPF
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
  • Spanning Tree Port States knowledge is required:
  • Blocking
  • Listening
  • Learning
  • Forwarding
  • Disabled


Role Details:

  • This is a Cisco Switch/Router Refresh role for hospital environments.
  • The engineer will lead migration and refresh efforts with support from one or two Technicians.
  • Cutovers generally begin at 5pm, 7pm, or 9pm, depending on the site, and typically last around 5 hours. The process is detailed and may involve migrating one port at a time.
  • Work schedule alternates: One night on, one night off – coordinated with another Network Engineer and their technician team.
  • Prep work is done during daytime hours before migration nights.


Typical Weekly Schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Prep work (9am–5pm; split shifts possible)
  • Tuesday, Thursday: Switch migrations (typically starting at 10pm, may start earlier in 24x7 facilities)
  • Gap weeks may be scheduled for clean-up and additional prep (primarily day shift).


  1. Candidates should be ready to discuss: Their approach to preparing for a switch migration.
  2. How they ensure a smooth migration with minimal downtime.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Bring up and integrate new sites/circuits.
  • Upgrade all ports to 5G to support 9100 series APs.
  • Upgrade DNAC Essentials to Advantage Licensing for ~75 switches.
  • Address port speed limitations across the network.
  • Plan and implement 4 uplinks per chassis at CS.
  • Upgrade IOS on 100+ switches to support Cisco SDA.
  • Assist in completing LAN Refresh projects by August 29th, 2025, at both CS and HH (including Layer 3 migrations).


Location & Work Environment:

  • Candidates must be comfortable working onsite at both Los Angeles and Pasadena locations.
  • 90% on-site work is required due to the hands-on nature of the role.
