The LADBS Technology Services Bureau (TSB) is seeking to engage the services of one (1) Network Administrator (“Network Engineer”) who will primarily focus on designing, configuring, and managing on-premises and cloud networks that meet our operational needs.

In addition to network design and configuration, the Network Engineer will play a crucial role in decommissioning obsolete network segments to optimize performance and resource utilization. This includes troubleshooting issues with switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute), executing the systematic removal of legacy components, and ensuring the stability and efficiency of our network infrastructure through advanced technical expertise.

The ideal Network Engineer should excel in designing on-premises and cloud networks, configuring switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect). They must troubleshoot issues, decommission legacy components, and create network diagrams using advanced tools. Knowledge of network protocols and collaboration with city staff for testing and training are vital.

One of the primary goals for this Task Order is to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of our IT support processes. The TSB does not have available staff with the specialized skills and experience needed to guide City staff through the iterative process of troubleshooting, resolution, and deployment of group policies and software. The Network Engineer will fill this critical gap, ensuring robust support and effective resolution of network challenges.

Responsibilities:

Contractor shall meet the following key high-level work products and outcomes: (Note: this list is not exhaustive.)

  1. Design, manage, and troubleshoot on-premises and cloud network architectures aligned with business goals.
  2. Configure and maintain network switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute).
  3. Provide advanced technical support for escalated network-related issues.
  4. Collaborate with City staff to decommission legacy network components and ensure minimal disruption.
  5. Create detailed network diagrams and update documentation to support infrastructure reliability.
  6. Conduct performance testing to validate network scalability and efficiency.
  7. Deliver training and knowledge transfer to city staff on network processes.
  8. Other related tasks identified by LADBS.
