What You Will Do As a MoldPrep Technician
Perform mold cleaning by disassembling molds, cleaning mold by applicable means and re-assembling molds for future use
Responsible for in-house mold repairs, preventative maintenance; preparation of list for outside repairs needed
Perform mold set-ups to include mounting, aligning and securing mold in press, adjusting/repairing limit switches and verifying cycle parameters; verifying date codes are current; verifying proper demolding tools are available at press
Verify press is operational and job packet contains current and accurate information
Responsible for inventory control for sprays, parts and demolding tools, miscellaneous equipment, informing management when supplies need to be ordered
Responsible for maintaining working order of all air nozzles
Assemble limit-switches, and thermocouples
Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area; spray molds with correct mold release
Responsible for proactively suggesting improvements within department
Maintain well-organized records, documents history, and repair/loss of cavities
Job Skills Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Minimum of 6 months prior experience in a similar role in a plastic or rubber injection environment
Mechanical ability to handle repairs, prepare micro switches for plate jobs; perform mold changes which involve set-up and entering parameters from an established parameter sheet
Communicate operation problems effectively between shifts; provide clear, accurate written instructions in job packets, follow mold prep work instructions
Demonstrate a strong commitment to work place safety and adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines
Able to add, subtract, multiply, divide; understand the difference in basic weight and size measurements
Determine how molds are to be repaired
Must be organized, have attention to detail; able to handle flexible work schedules; reliable attendance is mandatory
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
Able to move molds up to 4000 lbs using a lift mechanism
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Good eyesight to determine mold defects
Able to stand for an 8 hour (or more) shift
Able to handle occasional twisting and bending
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to high temperatures during summer months
Exposure to moderate to high noise level (hearing protection required)
