Job Title: Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis (MS&A) Engineer
Location: Hill AFB, UT (On-Site)
Canvas is seeking a Mid- to Senior-Level Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis (MS&A) engineer for a position located at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB), as part of the 719th Test Squadron under the 804th Test Group affiliated with Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), and will provide oversight of and conduct Sentinel ICBM Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) activities.
Duties
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate system technical performance against requirements for USAF Major System Acquisition.
- Review and develop models that simulate requirements-derived scenarios and conditions and analyze results.
- Formally document results in the form of technical reports and presentations and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide CTF Verification & Validation efforts during DT&E to support operational test agency accreditation of system models.
- Assess and oversee the technical content of model Verification and Validation (V&V) products and provide feedback to ensure the delivery of reliable models possessing well-established predictive accuracy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from various functional areas to assess models and simulations identified for use in their respective areas to identify any gaps in modeling needs and to identify validation data needs.
- Lead and mentor junior team members as assigned.
- Support periodic reviews of integrated test results and test plan status. Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) as appropriate.
- Provide technical support and advocate integrated approaches of engineering efforts and support test activities for which existing guidelines may not be available or applicable.
- Serve as a test team participant in the development of documents such as the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), System Test Plan (STP), Developmental Test (DT) Report, recommendation for IOT&E readiness, and other technical documents.
- Assess and grade the present maturity and quality of models against required maturity levels at completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other STEM field. *Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance at the required level. An active and transferrable DoD security clearance with active investigation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with various modeling and simulation software packages such as ANSYS, Arena, Thermal Desktop, STAR-CCM+, Siemens NX, MATLAB, Simulink, Abaqus CAE, Python, etc.
- Skillful in extracting meaningful insights from data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions.
- Understanding of system design, development, and testing principles, including system architecture, system integration, and system validation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, development, testing, and maintenance teams.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
- Focused adherence to safety and security requirements.
- Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies.
- Familiarity with ICBM weapon systems and related subsystems/equipment, their projected use in the military, and methods of testing.
Desired Experience
- Master's degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other STEM Field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, C++, or Java.
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools, such as: Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python, MATLAB, R, JMP.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering tools such as DOORS or Cameo.
Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.
Other Essential Job Functions
- Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
