Our Client is a leading European & Global purchasing office operating in various Asian countries for over 30 years. Owned by a leading Swiss retailer, they serve various distribution formats for their owners as well as their third-party customers in the food and non-food sectors.
They are seeking a 'Merchandising Manager' for their Hong Kong office, preferably with Native German skills. Their wide product range extends from textiles, home decoration, household goods, furniture, camping and gardening, tools, construction, electrical, plumbing, and installation to toys, sports, stationery, food, and near-food products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will report to the Division Manager and will be responsible for large and fast-growing product groups in the food sector.
He/she ensures a fast and smooth flow of information between retail/wholesale companies in Europe and suppliers, primarily in Asia.
Main responsibilities include:
• Leading and mentoring merchandisers in all merchandising activities, ISO processes, supplier evaluation, and packaging creation with associated documentation.
• Identifying and securing new business opportunities.
• Monitoring and analyzing market and competitive developments, exploring new market opportunities to provide relevant information and new business ideas that are competitive.
• Negotiating tenders and complex projects with teammates to ensure optimal pricing and delivery schedules.
• Problem-solving and mediating between buyers and suppliers.
• Planning and implementing business plans according to budgets and targets, regularly reviewing KPIs to ensure timely corrective actions.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least three years of solid experience in merchandising or purchasing in the Asian market, as well as experience with buyers in European countries.
• Good command of English and German.
• Strong leadership and business development skills to drive the business forward.
• Well-organized, self-motivated, and analytical.
• Experience in updating software and AI tools to increase efficiency.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
