Summary

Medical Officer (Youth Mental Health - No On-Call)

Community-based medical role supporting youth mental health—no hospital, no on-call. Step into structured care in a purpose-built setting.

  • No shift work or on-call - reclaim work-life balance
  • Work with purpose - support young people in early intervention
  • Modern facilities in Braddon - calm, central, and youth-friendly

Step away from the hospital system and into a purpose-built, community-focused service supporting young people aged 12–25.

About the Opportunity

Be Recruitment is proud to partner with a nationally recognised youth mental health program to recruit a Career Medical Officer to work within a multidisciplinary team providing early intervention mental health support to young people.

This is a non-hospital-based role that offers a rare opportunity for a doctor to apply their clinical expertise in a flexible, community-based setting, without the demands of shift work or on-call rosters.

You’ll provide clinical oversight, mental health assessments, collaborative care planning, and medication support as part of a progressive model focused on recovery, accessibility, and continuity of care.

This is a full-time position, however, part-time arrangements may be considered. You'll be working in modern, purpose-built facilities designed to support calm, youth-friendly engagement and clinician wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric and general medical assessment for young people aged 12–25
  • Support treatment planning, medication management, and risk mitigation
  • Collaborate closely with psychologists, care coordinators, and social workers
  • Contribute to clinical reviews, case conferences, and quality improvement
  • Maintain clinical documentation and support service evaluation activities

About You

  • MBBS or equivalent and registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
  • Experience or interest in youth mental health, general practice, or early intervention
  • A collaborative, person-centred approach to clinical care
  • Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Interest in continuity of care and long-term outcomes over acute presentations

Why Work Here?

Based in Braddon, a short walk from Canberra’s city centre, the service is housed in a modern facility surrounded by leafy streets, creative cafés, and accessible public transport. It’s a refreshing and inspiring alternative to traditional clinical settings.

Salary & Benefits

  • $140,000 – $190,000 + super (commensurate with experience)
  • Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
  • Structured working hours – no on-call, no shift work
  • Generous leave provisions + professional development support
  • Supportive, values-driven team and clinical governance structure

Apply Now

This is a rare opportunity for a medical officer to step into a meaningful, well-supported role that prioritises both clinical quality and staff wellbeing.
