Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. This role involves performing both routine and complex laboratory tests to ensure quality patient care. Responsibilities include specimen assessment, technical procedure performance, and instrumentation monitoring. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and technical decision-making skills.
Responsibilities
+ Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
+ Perform routine and complex technical procedures following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
+ Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
+ Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
+ Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
+ Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
+ Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
+ Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
+ Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Associate's degree in Medical Technology
OR
+ 2+ years of experience equivalent to that received in a school of Medical Technology
+ ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
+ High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
+ Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
+ Experience with Cerner Pathet is preferred.
+ Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
+ Experience in the Blood Bank department is advantageous.
Work Environment
Work in a Core Lab environment, with a schedule of 4x10 shifts, rotating weekends, and 3rd shift hours from 9 PM to 7:30 AM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.75 - $39.94/hr.
