Charlotte Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking a Medical Coder in our Mooresville office to join our team!

This position is responsible for reviewing and processing all medical charges in the practice management system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Reviews coding of all charges (hospital, facility and/or office), making necessary changes before submitting claims.
2. Consults with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate record information and to determine appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
3. Maintain assigned work queues at a reasonable age-base rate.
4. Assist staff with general questions regarding coding.
5. Reports coding issues and trends to management, as necessary.
6. Maintain confidentiality.
7. Keep current with health care trends and practices.
8. Reports any work problems to manager to ensure quality patient service.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum one year coding and/or billing experience within a health care organization. Experience coding gastroenterology preferred.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

Coding Certification (CPC) required.
