Summary

Clinic 5C, a leading provider of comprehensive dermatology and cosmetic surgery services, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Coding and Billing Specialist to join our dedicated team. As a Coding and Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate coding, timely billing, efficient collections, and overall seamless financial operations within our clinic. Position Summary This position is responsible for coding dermatology and wound care records and assigning appropriate ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes according to established coding guidelines. Also responsible for working insurance claim denials efficiently and quickly the 1st time and having in-depth knowledge of medical coding and billing guidelines. Responsibilities include, but no limited to: Utilize medical coding skills to accurately assign ICD-10 and CPT codes to patient medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Manage and process medical claims, including preparing and submitting claims to insurance companies. Verify patient insurance coverage and follow up on any claim rejections or denials. Process payments received from insurance companies and patients, posting them accurately to patient accounts. Investigate and resolve any billing discrepancies or insurance-related issues, working closely with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams. Coordinate with patients to address billing inquiries, explain insurance coverage, and set up payment plans when necessary. Collaborate with the front desk and clinical staff to ensure accurate and complete patient information for billing purposes. Stay up to date with changes in insurance regulations, coding guidelines, and industry best practices. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or certification in medical billing or coding is a plus. Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or coding, preferably in dermatology. Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding practices, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems. Familiarity with insurance claim submission processes and electronic billing systems. Proficiency in using practice management software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders.
