Medical Biller

Fremont, CA – On-site

$27 - $30/hour

One of our premier healthcare partners in Fremont, CA, is looking for a Medical Biller to join their dynamic team. Responsibilities:

• Follow up with the insurance companies on unpaid claims and denials
• Checks eligibility and updates insurance to route the claims to the correct payer if the initial claim was sent to the incorrect payer
• Resolve coding denials by informing the clinic on denials to retrieve the correct codes and send corrected claims
• Work claim edits, print and mail claims and attachments as needed
• Review accounts for collection process to validate patient responsibility
• Once the clinic manager has approved the accounts for further collection process, assign the accounts to the agency
• Reconcile accounts with agency acknowledgments on a weekly basis to confirm the account/dollar amount matches what the agency has received
• Report payments received on collection assignment for the agency to update their records
• Follow up on appeals sent for payment

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Medi-Cal, Medicare, and HMO insurance procedures
• Experience with Appeals and Denials
• Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9, Medi-Cal crosswalk coding, and managed care payment methodologies
• Experience with collections
• Experience with EPIC is highly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication
