We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller and Coder to join our team.

Job Summary

The Medical Biller and Coder is responsible for accurately coding medical procedures, diagnoses, and services for billing and insurance purposes. This role ensures compliance with current healthcare regulations, maximizes reimbursements, and supports the financial health of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Monitor and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient billing and coding information.
  • Respond to billing inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Assist with audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Keep current with updates to coding guidelines and payer policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree and certification in medical billing/coding required.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) or equivalent certification.
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
