Job Overview:

The Media Director is responsible for planning, managing, and executing media strategies for the agency’s clients. They will work closely with clients, creative teams, and other internal departments to ensure campaigns are effectively reaching their target audiences. The Media Manager will be expected to manage media budgets, negotiate with media vendors, and ensure campaigns deliver on KPIs such as reach, frequency, ROI, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Media Strategy Development:

  • Collaborate with the client servicing team and clients to understand the marketing goals and objectives.
  • Develop strategic media plans based on audience insights, market trends, and client requirements.
  • Recommend appropriate media channels (TV, radio, print, digital, out-of-home, etc.) based on campaign goals.

2. Media Planning & Buying:

  • Plan and buy media across various platforms (television, radio, print, digital, and emerging media channels).
  • Negotiate with media vendors to get the best rates and placements for campaigns.
  • Ensure media buying is done within budget constraints and adheres to client objectives.

3. Campaign Execution & Management:

  • Oversee the execution of media plans, ensuring ads run as scheduled and according to specifications.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of media buying and placement, ensuring smooth coordination between creative, digital, and production teams.
  • Monitor live campaigns for performance and optimize in real time, making adjustments when necessary.

4. Performance Tracking & Reporting:

  • Use analytics tools to track media performance across channels.
  • Provide detailed reports to clients on campaign performance, insights, and recommendations for future campaigns.
  • Analyze data and optimize campaigns based on key performance metrics (KPI) such as impressions, click-through rates (CTR), conversion rates, and return on investment (ROI).

5. Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for media-related queries with clients.
  • Provide regular updates and communicate results effectively to clients.
  • Advise clients on the best media strategies for their objectives, keeping them updated on new trends and technologies.

6. Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the creative, digital, and strategy teams to ensure media plans align with overall campaign goals.
  • Provide media-related guidance and support to junior media staff and assist with training.

7. Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage media budgets, ensuring effective allocation across different platforms and media types.
  • Monitor and control costs throughout the campaign, ensuring media buys stay within budget.

8. Market Research:

  • Conduct market research to understand target demographics, industry trends, and competitive analysis.
  • Stay updated on new media technologies and industry shifts to incorporate into campaigns.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Media, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-12 years of experience in media planning and buying, preferably in an advertising agency environment.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of all media platforms (TV, digital, print, out-of-home, etc.) and how to use them effectively for brand messaging.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in media planning tools (e.g., BPN, Prisma, or other media buying software), Excel, Google Analytics, and social media insights.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights to optimize campaigns.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and vendor management skills for securing the best media placements.
