Summary

Job Title: Mechatronics Engineer Job Description The Engineer I position is responsible for supporting the Engineering department through mechanical and electrical engineering of assemblies, components, and test equipment for aerospace restraint systems. The Engineer I coordinates with company personnel, customers, and outside sales representatives to ensure compliance with regulations and customer requirements for aviation inflatable restraint systems. Responsibilities * Create new designs and modify existing products based on specifications coordinated with engineering, customers, and/or the sales department. * Act as the technical point of contact for national (commercial/government) and international customers. * Provide engineering design support to generate preliminary design concepts, associated technical descriptions, nonrecurring/recurring cost estimates, and task scheduling for program proposals. * Interpret, select, and apply commercial/military specifications and customer requirements to hardware and processes to accomplish specific design requirements. * Supply hands-on engineering support for component fabrication and assembly of prototype, testing, and production hardware to resolve design, manufacturing, assembly, quality, and performance issues. * Advise engineering of any problems that arise during execution of design that might impair schedules or technical quality of the end item. * Communicate issues pertinent to product function, safety, and integrity. * Interact positively with co-workers, suppliers, management, and customers in a team environment. * Proficiently adhere to DO-160 requirements. * Communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Essential Skills * Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSI Y14.5 Drafting Standards. * Project management skills. * Familiarity with sheet metal, injection molded, and machined parts. * Experience in packaging design of aerospace hardware. * Ability to create drawing packages and perform weight analysis. * Ability to generate assembly documents, BOM part selections, engineering change orders, and technical reports. * Experience in digital/analog circuit design. * Development experience with aircraft electrical systems/electrical interface. * Ability to create, assist, and/or review product documentation, including component and assembly drawings, product specifications, test plans and reports, and instruction manuals. * Three years of SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience. * Bachelor of Science degree in mechatronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). * Familiarity with Altium for PCB design. * Minimum of three years of mechanical aerospace mechanism design experience. * One year of experience in circuit design (analog/digital), electrical systems (cables/connectors), or PCB design. * Experience in working with cross-functional groups (manufacturing, test, certification, purchasing). * Ability to work in a small team and perform a variety of tasks. * Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and ownership to complete tasks and assignments on time. Work Environment This job operates in both office and manufacturing environments. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The position may require sitting at a desk for up to 8 hours, performing repetitive motions, and walking around office and industrial environments frequently. Industrial environments are subject to changes in noise and temperature. The position requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to manipulate objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and occasionally lifting/moving up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to wear a mask covering the mouth and nose while interacting with others according to company guidelines. This is a salaried, exempt from overtime, full-time position, regularly working in excess of 40 hours per week. Workdays are Monday through Friday, with core hours between 9 AM and 3:30 PM. Some domestic and international travel may be expected for this position. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr.
