Summary

Mbryonics is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from photonic integrated circuits to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite communications systems. The work is exciting and challenging and is at the forefront of the technology domains. As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Mechanical Test Engineer - to join our group.

What You’ll Do

  • To become a key part of the wider engineering team and help deliver on Mbryonics’ testing goals underpinning optical communications telescopes for space.
  • To be self-motivated to deliver on testing campaigns such as TVAC for thermal cycling and thermal balance tests, and also Vibration tests.
  • Write test plans and collate results of experiments/tests.
  • To design or liaise with mechanical engineers to build testing accompaniments such as adaptor plates, shrouds, GSE, packaging, etc.
  • To actively conduct tests with in-house shakers, TVAC and prepare test setups for the same.
  • Implement continued development of engineering practices and procedures within a blossoming scale-up environment.
  • Develop novel solutions for, and improve on existing, test support systems through innovative approaches, creative inputs and by leveraging former experiences.
  • Rapidly iterate on process development and testing utilising a mixture of a hands-on approach and inform analytical modelling if needed. Be proactive and consistently help promote product development in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures and standards, with an ultimate goal of scaling up to high volume manufacturing.

Who You Are

  • 2+ years of practical experience in testing and setting up complex tests within a manufacturing or related engineering field.
  • Basic proficiency in using commercial CAD software
  • Understanding early-stage prototyping methodologies and the product development lifecycle.
  • Have direct exposure to common environmental testing processes eg. Thermal Vacuum Cycling (TVAC), Shock, and Vibration testing protocols and equipment.

Desired Technical Skills/Education

  • Familiarity of current testing environments and equipment for space launch and operations
  • Knowledge or keen interest in the space sector would be an advantage.
  • Actively engaged in engineering and continuous professional development.
  • Great ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Deadline-oriented and driven to contribute to the company's mission.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving testing challenges.
