The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway


Key responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed assembly and commissioning schedules for the conveyor system components (drives, belts, structures, transfer points).
  • Coordinate logistical requirements for component delivery, storage, and installation on site.
  • Liaise closely with TBM, STP, electrical, and civil construction teams to ensure integrated planning and execution.
  • Monitor the ongoing performance and reliability of the conveyor system during TBM operation.
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for the conveyor system.


About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of large-scale bulk material handling systems, particularly conveyor systems.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and WHS regulations.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary project team.
