Summary

Position Overview

The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems in construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, coordinating with project managers and engineers, and ensuring that all estimates are both competitive and profitable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project drawings and specifications to prepare comprehensive mechanical estimates.
  • Prepare cost estimates for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers during the preconstruction phase to ensure designs are optimized for cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct take-offs from drawings to quantify materials and labor required for projects.
  • Develop and submit proposals for commercial projects, ensuring all costs and specifications are accurately represented.
  • Participate in design-build projects to provide mechanical system insights during the bidding process.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates and proposals for future reference and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating, preferably in a commercial construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems.
  • Familiarity with preconstruction processes and design-build methodologies.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools for take-offs and proposal generation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members and clients.
