ROLE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENT ASSISTANT
TEAM PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
HOURS PART TIME
LOCATION COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
START DATE JULY 2025
The Product Development team at SOUNDBOKS drives the creation of products from initial concept to mass production. They’re a collaborative, self-driven group with broad cross-disciplinary expertise. Each team member takes strong ownership of their tasks and challenges, making every contribution a meaningful part of the final product.
As the Mechanical Engineering Student Assistant, you'll be coming up with new ideas and solutions for different parts of the product - both for current and yet-to-be-announced projects. You’ll take those ideas further by developing them into real prototypes and testing them in real-life situations to see if they’re ready for the final product.
Okay, let’s make things a little more concrete. Here’s what we expect your daily life to look like:
Design-wise, you’ll be:
- Ideating, brainstorming, prototyping of mechanical engineering concepts and solutions.
- Assisting with 3D Modelling in Fusion 360.
- Designing for cost - keeping in mind that some solutions are more cost-friendly than others.
- Designing for manufacturing - keeping a good sense check toward the ease and efficiency of the actual production.
Building-wise, you’ll be:
- 3D Printing - either at our workshop or by teaming up with external service providers.
- Assembling prototypes, including all the physical bits: electronics, speaker drivers, enclosures, etc.
- Building prototypes hands-on by woodworking, gluing, soldering, and the like.
- Ordering and arranging externally produced product samples when needed.
Testing-wise, you’ll be:
- Running mechanical tests and evaluating designs for durability, weight, comfort, and more.
- Gathering feedback from others to figure out which solutions work best.
- Trying different hardware placements and seeing what fits where.
- Coming up with ideas for custom test setups, building them, running the tests, and documenting everything along the way.
In order to become a success in this role, we believe that your profile should be aligned with the bullets listed below. However, we acknowledge that success can take many forms, so please do apply even if you don’t tick all the boxes.
- You’re studying Mechanical Engineering or similar field, and preferably now have around 1 year left in your studies, giving you some extra time to step into the work life.
- You’re a curious, open-minded idea generator and are naturally coming up with solutions and concepts.
- You’ve got an understanding of how to evaluate and test designs and concepts, and how to pick the best one.
- You’ve got a sense of the structure and general mechanical needs of CE products.
- You’ve already tried crafting physical prototypes previously.
- You’ve gained prior experience in 3D modelling.
- You've probably also done 3D printing some of those models you've crafted, and have tooled around with slicing software.
- You’re good friends with Microsoft Office programs.
- You don't wait around - you see what needs to be done and get it done.
- You’re not afraid to ask the right questions to stay on track.
Intrigued? At SOUNDBOKS you’ll find yourself a part of a community. We realize that growth is a process and we don’t expect you to go through it alone. Actually, we guarantee that you won’t have to. We work together in order to work smarter, we inspire each other to be better, and we never forget that every member of the team is responsible for our success.
So, if you’re tired of all of the noise in the job market, we’d love to hear from you. This may be the coolest job you ever have!
