Role Description

We're seeking a curious and innovative engineering intern passionate about building impactful hardware to join our multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate closely with our engineers to design, prototype, and test next-generation desalination technologies. We are looking for an individual with a multifaceted mechanical design skillset and the ability to fabricate and assemble their designs.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with us to create our first field-scale prototype by end of summer.
  • Design, prototype, assemble, and test hardware components for our desalination system.
  • Assist in integrating off-the-shelf components and systems with our proprietary hardware.
  • Conduct experiments, collect data, perform analysis, and troubleshoot to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Present findings and provide recommendations based on experimental results.


Required:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience prototyping or building projects independently.
  • Ability to approach problems using first-principles thinking.
  • Excellent problem-solving and clear communication skills.


Preferred Experience:

  • Ability to practically apply concepts from statics and solid mechanics
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics and/or mass transport through completed coursework and/or professional experience.
  • Practical experience working in aqueous environments or labs involving water-based systems is a plus.
  • Experience with a multitude of fabrication techniques commonly used in prototyping and willingness to learn new ones
