Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer who is a proactive self-starter and excels in a dynamic startup environment. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with our in-house teams to develop the next generation of battery and powertrain technologies used in mobility and consumer product applications. You can expect to design high-quality mechanical systems across a broad range of applications and take on significant project ownership. Product development cycles under this role include CAD design, analysis and simulation, verification and validation testing, prototype builds, and manufacturing bring up. The right person for this role values detail-oriented work and rigorous testing.
A Day in the Life:
- Use SolidWorks CAD and PDM to manage and collaborate on part and assembly lifecycles
- Simulate structural, thermal, and fluid models, correlating results to physical testing
- Develop and execute test plans and design validation methods for battery system failure modes
- Perform trade off analysis and DOEs to optimize designs for performance and cost
- Lead prototype builds and manufacturing bring up
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary electrical, software, systems, and project management team to deliver high confidence products
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience working with battery technologies.
- Desired Manufacturing Methods:
- CNC Machining
- Injection Molding
- Sheet Metal Bending
- 3D Printing
- Joining methods, such as laser welding
- IP67 Sealing methods
- Ability to clearly communicate technical issues in succinct language even to non-technical teammates.
- Experience with rapid-prototyping development processes to create functional prototypes and jigs.
- BS or MS / MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience designing consumer products, e-mobility, automotive or aerospace applications
- Experience with manufacturing bring up in house and with external contract manufacturers
- Familiarity with PDM and PLM systems
- Experience with standards such as UN 38.3, UL 2580, UL 2271
- Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to thrive in ambiguity
