Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a
Mechanical Engineer to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the US Air Force's Sentinel (formally GBSD) program in Ogden, UT. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground-based leg of the nuclear triad -- the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an onsite position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e. every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a great work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.
Key Duties
- Prepare designs for mechanical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects.
- Support the design development of mechanical systems and equipment for the Sentinel program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations following applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Work with Mechanical Engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.
- Develop design drawings.
- Perform formal calculations.
- Size equipment and systems.
- Develop equipment and material specifications.
- Develop procurement documentation.
- Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management.
- Design Building Information Modeling and coordinate with other disciplines.
- Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solution.
- Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
Required/Desired Skills, Experience, And Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education :

- This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. - Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- 6 or more years of relevant experience, including drawings, calculations, and specifications for mechanical systems and equipment in nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.
- Experience developing equipment configuration packages for procurement and maintenance.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, as well as customer corporate guides and standards.
- Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical Engineering design principles.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the US (Mechanical or related Engineering).
- HVAC experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Desired Skills, Experience, And Education
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Experience with Trane TRACE 700 and/or Carrier HAP.
- Experience developing drawings for the design of fluid systems, hydraulics, heat transfer, HVAC, thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specifications.
- Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
- Experience executing engineering designs with Revit.
- Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI MasterFormat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
