Description: Innovative Composite Engineering (ICE) Job Description Title: Mechanical Engineer FTE Status: Full Time – 40 hours Reports To: Engineering Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Location: 1265 N. Main Ave. White Salmon, WA Working hours: 7:00 AM-5:30 PM, Monday – Thursday (4/10-hour days) About ICE: Innovative Composite Engineering specializes in the engineering and fabrication of composite solutions for a diverse customer base including aerospace, industrial, automotive, recreation and other industries. Founded in 1989, we are located in a recreational paradise in the scenic Columbia River Gorge near Hood River, one hour east of Portland, OR. Primary Purpose of Position: Work with a dynamic team to design, develop and fabricate custom machines and equipment used to fabricate unique composite parts and assemblies. Apply creativity, experience and engineering rigor to synthesize customer functional requirements into machine architecture and processes that advance our proprietary manufacturing capabilities. Interactively design systems balancing innovation with proven solutions, while meeting demanding schedules. Exercise sound judgment, and when uncertain, display initiative and the confidence to feedback as part of the team approach. Essential Functions: Develop mechanical and machine design concepts to meet customer and internal needs and translate them into functional and efficient manufacturing systems. Work with teammates, management and other groups to fully understand and meet or exceed customers’ requirements. Develop and perform machine system testing to ensure capability, robustness and reliability. Coordinate with vendors and internal machine shop to procure system parts on schedule. Participate continuous of improvements to machines and processes. Develop and maintain clear and accurate machine documentation: requirements, plans, drawings, solid models, analyses, BOMs, operating instructions and required operator training. Apply a resourceful hands-on approach using a wide range of fabrication methods, materials and mechanical equipment. Interact positively and effectively with others to achieve goals. Lead, guide or coordinate the efforts of teammates when required. Salary commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package. Requirements: Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education and Abilities: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and at least three years of related experience. Can demonstrate exceptional solid modeling skills in Catia or SolidWorks. Able to competently perform engineering analysis by hand, computer based and FEA. History of creative design with examples of past innovation on complex machines. Skilled in hands-on fabrication of tooling, jigs, fixtures and industrial equipment. Possess a deep understanding of reliable and robust machine design principles. Knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles Software development such as PLC programming or imbedded firmware a plus. Experience in composite design, analysis and tooling a plus.
