Position Overview:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a leadership role in the design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You will work on new product development and enhancements to existing products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality and manufacturable designs. This role requires a balance between hands-on prototyping, CAD design, and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design process, working closely with electrical and software engineers to develop integrated product solutions.
- Design enclosures and packaging for electro-mechanical systems, including PCB integration.
- Develop designs using various materials such as plastics, aluminum, stainless steel, and advanced 3D printing materials.
- Select appropriate manufacturing methods, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, welding, and casting.
- Generate engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, Bills-of-Materials (BOMs), and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), in accordance with industry standards.
- Apply ASME Y14 drafting standards and GD&T principles to ensure precise and manufacturable designs.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to validate design feasibility.
- Design products for both low-volume and high-rate production environments.
- Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) methodologies.
- Work on usability, reliability, experimental design, testing, verification, and validation of mechanical systems.
- Utilize 3D printing technology to accelerate prototyping and product development.
- Perform CAD and FEA simulations to evaluate and optimize designs.
- Conduct technical design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- High attention to detail with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills across engineering disciplines.
- Preferred experience with industrial 3D printing technology.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 10+ years of design engineering experience, preferably in electro-mechanical systems, medical devices, or test fixture design.
- Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS or equivalent 3D CAD software for modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault is preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as FDA, UL, IEC, ISTA, etc., is a plus.
