What You Will Do:
There is an opportunity in the Opto-Mechanical Tool Engineering Team for a Mechanical Engineer II to support the Raytheon Optics Consolidated Manufacturing Center (OCMC) factory in Richardson, TX.
Your responsibilities may include:
* Provide mechanical design and analysis support for research and development projects
* Provide support in the design of optical components and assemblies
* Develop complex 3-dimensional mechanical tooling solutions using CREO
* Capture and communicate tooling concepts with manufacturing and factory teams.
* Identify opportunities for improvement within our factories.
* Represent manufacturing as a mechanical engineering resource to support a variety of factory initiatives.
* Promote standardized fixturing concepts across programs to support a multi-product factory environment.
* Interpret and read mechanical engineering drawings including the usage of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
* Provide stress analysis models and documents on below the hook lifting devices.
* Establish designs with significant consideration given to good error-proofing techniques.
* Integrate COTS components to increase design usability and cost effectiveness.
* Adjust designs as necessary to meet stakeholder needs.
* Optimize designs through proper selection of raw materials and finishes.
* Troubleshoot, diagnose and analyze design flaws and production issues.
* Assimilate details and requirements, and brainstorm potential tooling solutions.
* Follow and Support established guidelines regarding drawing layouts and release procedures.
This job is posted as ONSITE and is based at Raytheon's Richardson, TX facility.
Qualifications You Must Have:
* Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM). Prefer Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology and Aerospace Engineering or related field and minimum of 2 years of related experience.
* Experience with CAD modeling
* Experience with drawing interpretation
* The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Clearance (ATF)
Qualifications We Prefer:
* Experience in opto-mechanical design and analysis
* Proven mechanical aptitude (ex. project development, hobbies)
* Experience/education with mechanical project development
* Knowledge and experience of machine shop practices
* Previous tool design experience
* Experience with CREO
* Advanced CAD skills
* Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
* Mold design experience (Compression, Injection, or RTM)
* Machine design experience
* Additive manufacturing experience
* Automation design experience
* Experience or education evaluating a customer request and translating it into an innovative conceptual design
* Experience or education performing Engineering Tolerance Analysis
* Basic GD&T skills
* Strong knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office tools
* Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical skills - comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
* Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Working Environments:
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
