Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer I carries out engineering assignments concerned with the planning and design of mechanically functioning equipment and processes.

This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists with design and development of complex electro-mechanical components and sub-systems for the aerospace/defense industry.
  • Assists with the conceptual lay-out / mechanical configuration of rotating machinery including the design of complex machined sub-components.
  • Generates component and assembly drawings with an in-depth use of GD&T.
  • Performs basic analysis such as structural and thermal to ensure compliance with customer specifications
  • Assists with assembling prototype products and associated test stands using standard hand tools and equipment.

Education And Experience

  • BSME or equivalent. Zero to three years of experience in designing mechanical components/subsystems and applying ASME Y14.5M.
  • Experience with test equipment setup and operation is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of military specifications and environment desired, MIL-STD-100 preferred. ASME Y14.5 standard desired.
  • CAD knowledge a plus with emphasis in Solidworks and/or AutoCad and ProE.
  • Must have a good understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, theory and calculations.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructionis in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts (e.g. exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations).
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Capable of providing field support to customers.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and with limited resources.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours may occasionally be required.
  • Travel may occasionally be required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

The wage range for this role considers allowances for a number of factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $67,418 - $108,839.
