Summary

Position Title: MEP Project Manager (P.E.)

Location: Austin, TX

On-site/Full-time

$120,000 - $150,000


Overview:

This position involves overseeing and executing mechanical engineering responsibilities for a range of projects, from small-scale efforts to large, complex developments. The role primarily focuses on mechanical engineering, with plumbing engineering experience considered a plus. Candidates must possess the ability to apply advanced engineering principles, methodologies, and techniques across various environments with limited oversight. The role requires independent problem-solving, development of creative solutions, and the ability to adapt existing methods to meet new challenges. Regular collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders in leadership roles is a key part of the position. The ability to manage full Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design efforts as a primary point of contact is essential.


Key Responsibilities


Design and Engineering Execution

  • Conducts calculations and estimates for engineering designs.
  • Gathers and synthesizes project data for integration into new designs.
  • Explores and recommends technical alternatives based on analysis.
  • Leads preliminary studies, data collection, and conceptual design efforts.
  • Prepares detailed designs, specifications, and budget estimates.
  • Observes construction work in the field to ensure alignment with plans and specifications.
  • Applies statistical methods to verify compliance with established standards.
  • Compiles field data and translates it into design documentation.
  • Oversees the preparation of plans, diagrams, and related documents.
  • Maintains comprehensive project records and documentation throughout project lifecycle.
  • Utilizes engineering design and analysis software effectively.
  • Ensures adherence to applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.


Project Management and Planning

  • Manages projects of moderate complexity from concept through completion.
  • Leads internal project teams, assigns tasks, monitors progress, and provides direction.
  • Develops and controls project schedules and timelines.
  • Interfaces with clients, contractors, and relevant stakeholders to maintain satisfaction and communication.
  • Coordinates efforts across different agencies and private entities impacted by projects.
  • Oversees quality assurance practices, reviews project metrics, and updates protocols as needed.
  • Interprets technical plans and communicates requirements to implementation teams.


Client Engagement and Business Development

  • Assists in the development of proposals and securing project contracts.
  • Contributes to strategic market planning by refining pursuit strategies within specific sectors.
  • Supports business growth by fostering relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  • Promotes additional mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services to existing clients and supports cross-disciplinary initiatives within the organization.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 6 years of experience (8–10+ years preferred). OR
  • Master’s degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience (7–9+ years preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) credential required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, provide feedback, assign work, and manage performance.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills across technical and managerial audiences.
