Summary
Key Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION
Design & Development
Support the Engineering Manager in developing designs for new spiral mill machinery and components.
Perform feasibility studies, engineering calculations, and cost-performance evaluations.
CAD Modeling & Documentation
Create accurate 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
Maintain documentation, design standards, and revision history using PDM tools.
Prototyping & Testing
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D teams to build and test prototypes.
Analyze test data and recommend design improvements for performance and reliability.
Engineering Analysis & Troubleshooting
Conduct stress, thermal, and vibration analysis to validate designs.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during production, installation, or field operation.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve existing designs, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturability.
Implement approved design and process improvements in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure alignment on technical requirements.
Provide regular project updates and communicate risks and findings to stakeholders.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all designs meet applicable standards (e.g., ISO, ASME) and internal quality protocols.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial machinery.
Technical Skills
Proficient in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
Experience with PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Autodesk Vault).
Familiarity with engineering simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS).
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, machining, and assembly.
Analytical & Problem-Solving
Ability to perform detailed engineering calculations and interpret analytical results.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical systems.
Soft Skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities across technical and non-technical teams.
Detail-oriented with strong time-management and organizational skills.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and open to learning from senior team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with spiral or pipe mill equipment and large-scale industrial machinery.
Familiarity with industry standards and compliance regulations.
Exposure to project management methodologies and engineering productivity tools.
Hands-on experience with fabrication and mechanical assembly processes.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with periodic visits to manufacturing and testing areas.
Involves hands-on equipment inspection and collaboration on the shop floor.
Ability to wear PPE and adhere to all safety guidelines in manufacturing settings.
