Our client, a leading innovator in advanced manufacturing technology, is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join their team at a state-of-the-art facility in Severn Beach, Bristol.

Key Responsibilities
- Create component and device designs, including 3D solid models, detail drawings, and modifications
- Perform design verification and validation using calculations, simulations, and prototype testing
- Develop modular designs in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Ensure designs meet company and relevant regulatory/industry standards (e.g., BS, EN, Semi standards)
- Provide technical information for technical files, manuals, and other documentation
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date drawings, work instructions, and documentation
- Lead design projects to deliver high-quality solutions on time
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for products and processes
- Manage work packages, timelines, and stakeholder communication
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and operations teams to meet technical specifications
- Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis for issues during manufacturing, testing, or at customer sites
- Undertake general drawing office duties and administrative tasks as required
- Prioritise health, safety, and environmental protection in all activities
- Take ownership of personal and professional development in partnership with the manager
The Person/Qualifications
- Proficiency in designing mechanical systems and mechanisms
- Experience with design verification and validation through calculation, simulation, or testing
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, or welding
- Familiarity with 3D CAD (e.g., SolidEdge), PLM software, and Microsoft Office tools
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Understanding of engineering drawing and design best practices
- Awareness of product costs, reliability, and safety considerations
- Degree in a relevant discipline or HNC/equivalent (desirable)
