TITLE: Mechanical Design Engineer

Comp: From $75,000-$110,000

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a Mechanical Design Engineer direct hire position in Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive 2D and 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and technical specifications for components and assemblies used in steel mills and heavy industrial environments.
• Perform engineering calculations, FEA simulations, and material selection to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with production teams to optimize designs for fabrication, welding, and assembly processes, providing hands-on engineering support during manufacturing and installation phases.
• Lead engineering projects from initial concept through to final implementation, including design validation, materials procurement, and quality assurance activities.
• Continuously evaluate and improve existing designs to increase product durability, reduce maintenance needs, and enhance overall system performance.
• Create and manage accurate documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing guidelines, and compliance reports.
• Work closely with clients, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to develop custom-engineered solutions tailored to specific operational requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, Mechanical Engineering
• Fabrication, heavy industrial design, or sheet metal design
• 2+ years of experience in an design related role
