Summary

Mechanical Design Engineer II Department: Engineering Employment Type: Full Time Location: Burlington, MA Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000 / year Description The Mechanical Design Engineer II will be responsible for the design and development of powered orthotics for the MyoPro Product Line. This role requires a strong fundamental understanding of mechatronics as well as experience bringing products from early concept development to commercialization. The ideal candidate is curious and solutions-oriented, with a passion for robotics, mechatronics, and ideally orthotics & prosthetics. He/she understands the importance of both incorporating user feedback and completing tasks on-schedule, as well as the necessity of sufficient documentation. (We are in a regulated environment after all) Responsibilities * Design and improve Myomo's line of robotic exoskeletons. * Interact with suppliers to obtain quotes and assess component manufacturability from a wide variety of sources, including CNC machining, sheet metal, textiles, orthotics, printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, and injection molding. * Collaborate with peers to develop testing protocols and fixtures to verify performance and improve line-side manufacturing. * Effectively utilize CAD designs to bring early-stage concepts through to cost-effective manufacturing and sourcing. * Construct prototypes and critically evaluate performance using numerical and qualitative techniques. * Manage small technical projects with a cross-disciplinary team. * Drafting, tolerancing, and DFM for low-mid volume manufacture. Requirements * Bachelor's or higher level degree in mechanical engineering. * 3+ years of industry experience, master's degree and 2+ years' industry experience, or PhD. * Experience with electromechanical product development and manufacturing. * Functional knowledge of rapid-prototyping and volume manufacturing processes including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding. * Proficiency with Solidworks, simulation tools, and advanced drafting and tolerancing. * Experience integrating actuation, sensing, and electronics in compact packages. * Industry experience with wearables, medical devices, or robotics. * Excellent written/verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail. * Working knowledge of ISO 13485 design control principles and documentation standards. * Ability to structure and prioritize technical project work to meet deadlines in a risk averse manner. * Works well independently and in a team environment.
