Leads structural analysis of Industrial Gas Turbine Engine components and systems to assess component durability, identify design shortfalls, identify potential design improvements, and assess risk. The candidate must demonstrate a team-focused and proactive approach to problem solving.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Hand calculations for evaluation of simple structural problems
FEA Model generation in ANSYS and/or Abaqus
Defining and applying boundary conditions appropriate for each analysis
Model execution to assess component life including LCF, Creep, and Modal analysis of gas turbine rotating and static hardware
Post-processing model results
Ability to make CAD changes to iterate with other disciplines and improve designs
Results documentation
Mentoring younger engineers
Minimum Requirements
Education & Training
BS, MS or PhD degree in Mechanical, Aero Space, or Aeronautical Engineering; MS / PhD degree Preferred.
Skills/Experience
8+ years of experience in gas turbine component structural analysis.
General knowledge of turbomachinery component design, assemblies, and manufacturing.
Experience in CAD modeling.
Strong analytical decision-making and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes, general machining and fabrication.
Experience with FEA software preferred (ANSYS/Abaqus).
Experience presenting technical topics to peers, higher management, and customers.
Candidate must be effective in communicating and decision-making.
Candidate must have effective organizational skills.
Candidate must have the ability to work multiple assignments effectively.
