Compensation The compensation target range for this role is: $28.50 - $33.65 Job Summary The Materials Testing Engineering Technician will be responsible for conducting a range of materials tests, operating and maintaining test equipment, and supporting engineers in data collection and analysis. This position will work closely with engineering teams to ensure accurate, reliable, and high-quality testing processes, directly contributing to product innovation and improvement. Job Description Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Materials Testing: * Perform a variety of materials tests, including tensile, compression, fatigue, and hardness testing, on a range of materials such as metals, plastics, and polymers. * Operate and maintain testing equipment, ensuring accurate and consistent results. * Work prioritization in the lab based on project timelines. * Assist engineers in developing and refining testing procedures and methods. Data Collection and Analysis: * Collect, analyse, and report test data to support product development and quality assurance efforts. * Ability to analyse the efficacy of data from tests and provide recommendations based on test outcomes or if additional tests are needed. * Ensure precise documentation of test results, including deviations or unexpected outcomes. * Assist in preparing test reports and summaries for review by project managers and engineers and occasionally report out data found during testing. Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: * Regularly inspect and perform maintenance on testing equipment to ensure it remains in optimal condition. * Assist with calibration of testing machinery and instruments as required. * Contribute to the procurement and selection of new testing equipment as necessary. Quality Assurance: * Support quality assurance processes by ensuring tests meet predefined quality standards and specifications. * Collaborate with the quality control team to address any non-conformities or issues found during testing. Safety and Compliance: * Follow safety protocols during testing and laboratory activities to maintain a safe working environment. * Participate in safety training and ensure adherence to company safety guidelines. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Associate's degree or certification in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or a related field or equivalent experience. * 2+ years of experience in a materials testing or engineering support role. * Familiarity with various testing equipment and methods, including tensile and compression testing. * Strong data analysis skills, with attention to detail in test reporting and documentation. * Hands-on experience with the maintenance and operation of lab or testing equipment. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. * Forklift certification is a plus Preferred Skills: * Experience working with hyper-elastic polymer materials or similar products. * Proficiency in data acquisition software and programming (Python, C++). * Previous experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
