Summary

MATERIALS MANAGER

Job Summary:

Responsible for scheduling, planning, and oversight of material procurement, production, and delivery. Ensure efficient flow of materials within the manufacturing plant and to and from inventory or supplier while meeting inventory turn goals. Develop and manage MRP programs based on multiple customer input methods to ensure we meet customer JIT requirements. This position is an “on site” position.

Salary: $63,000-$75,000 DOE


Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain inventory management system using MRP and existing inventory process.
  • Monitor inventory levels for raw, WIP, finished goods, MRO, and manufacturing tools.
  • Manage material scheduling in a Just-in-Time (JIT) environment, meeting inventory turn goals.
  • Work with an internal team to receive requisition, issue, and track all POs, while properly reporting cost centers.
  • Develop strong customer relationships, working with customers on a daily basis to resolve any material issues.
  • Participate in physical inventory program, investigating and reconciling any count discrepancies.
  • Work with Supply Base, managing orders ensuring cost effective lot sizing and freight options.
  • Champion cost reduction and process improvement activities.
  • Monitor material flow between suppliers, company, and the customer to ensure production requirements are met, proactively preventing crisis situations.
  • Track and manage customer owned tooling to include tagging and auditing.
  • Participate in new product material sourcing and launch.
  • Support plant teams with receiving dock, shipping dock, and material storage issues.
  • Manage tracking, inputs and ”after actions” per IATF requirements.
  • Participate and initiate Continuous Improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Education And Experience:

Bachelor's degree is desirable.

  • Experience: 2+ years Materials Management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Previous experience with MRP programs, managing material for several customers, a diverse range of products, and several suppliers.
  • Experience with print and material analysis, sourcing of cast and “bar stock” raw materials.
  • Experience in a production environment preferably with metals and casting experience.
  • Working knowledge of material flows, layouts, packaging and containerization.
  • Ability to plan and analyze production requirements and implement supporting material systems and business processes.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills and leadership ability, especially for collaborating with others internally and externally to accomplish goals and resolve issues.
  • Highly organized and detailed to establish priorities, identify and set goals.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and other customer specific requirements.
  • Functions well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of software, particularly MS Excel and use of spreadsheets for managing and analyzing data.
