Position Description:
The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end supply chain operations including procurement, production planning, inventory control, shipping, and receiving. This role ensures that materials and products are available when needed, cost-effective sourcing strategies are in place, and inventory accuracy is maintained. The manager will lead process improvement initiatives, supplier management, and performance reporting across all supply chain functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement and Supplier Management:
· Oversee the entire purchasing process including sourcing, negotiations, and supplier selection.
· Develop and implement sourcing strategies that reduce cost and manage risk.
· Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor performance.
Inventory and Materials Management:
· Direct and maintain accurate inventory control systems and ensure perpetual inventory accuracy.
· Manage storage of purchased parts and finished goods, optimizing space and accessibility.
· Monitor and maintain inventory levels to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
· Identify and manage obsolete or damaged inventory and coordinate appropriate write-offs.
Production Planning and Scheduling:
· Direct production planning and scheduling activities based on ERP data.
· Ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer timelines.
Shipping and Receiving:
· Oversee all shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
· Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs and optimize logistics operations.
Cycle Counting and Auditing:
· Establish and monitor procedures for regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
· Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Performance Management and Continuous Improvement:
· Track, report, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement, inventory, and logistics.
· Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness in supply chain operations.
General Responsibilities:
· Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
