Description

The Material Program Manager (MPM) is responsible for leading all supply chain-related activities for assigned UAV programs at FlightWave Aerospace. This role serves as the primary liaison between supply chain, program management, and engineering, ensuring material availability, cost control, and risk mitigation throughout the product lifecycle. The MPM drives alignment between procurement, planning, and production to meet customer delivery, quality, and budget objectives.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary supply chain lead for assigned programs, managing material requirements from proposal through production and sustainment.
  • Develop and maintain material program plans, schedules, and cost forecasts aligned with program milestones.
  • Partner with procurement to source long-lead and critical components, ensuring timely availability and cost competitiveness.
  • Coordinate with engineering to support early supplier involvement and manage changes to BOMs and technical data packages.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate material risks related to lead times, obsolescence, capacity, and supplier performance.
  • Track and report on key metrics such as material availability, on-time delivery, and cost variance.
  • Manage supplier performance and escalate issues to leadership where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with finance to monitor material budgets and support EVMS/cost reporting where applicable.
  • Support compliance with export control and regulatory requirements (ITAR/EAR, DFARS, etc.).

Required Qualifications - The following qualifications are required for any position:

Education : Minimum education (e.g., Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field).

Experience : Required years of relevant experience (e.g., 5+ yrs project management or sales).

Skills : Key skills for success: Proficiency with tools. Strong communication and teamwork.

Certifications : Any certifications needed or preferred (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in production planning, master scheduling, or materials management within aerospace, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing environments

Skills

  • Strong understanding of procurement, production planning, and material control principles.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation and BOM structures.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage cost, schedule, and risk

Certifications

  • Preferred: APICS CPIM or CSCP certification

Additional Desired Qualifications - The requirements below are desired knowledge, skills and/or abilities we desire but not required .

  • Experience supporting government or defense programs (DoD, SBIR, OTA, etc.).
  • Familiarity with AS9100, DFARS flow-downs, and supplier management best practices.
  • Experience working in a startup or rapid-scaling manufacturing environment.
  • Background in hardware development programs with aggressive timelines

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk and move between production, warehouse, and office environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers or other facilities may be required)
