Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the staff and coordinating all actions related to waste material and logistics/supply receipts, movement, storage, and shipments. The position also supports the NNSS program. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Coordinate with the General Manager, Plant Operations Manager, Work Control Manager, and Technical Manager as needed to provide day-to-day directions to facilitate an efficient and compliant organization that receives, processes, and ships low-level and mixed hazardous and radioactive waste.
  • Ensure all waste received is profiled, manifested, and received within our Radioactive Materials license, Air emissions license/s, permit, and acceptance criteria.
  • Assist with revenue forecasting and recognition, and month-end reports such as revenue, surety, disposal accrual, WDOH reports (CVSA, LL RAD Inventory), and unbilled disposal forecast.
  • Assist with work authorizations, work instructions, and nonroutine work plans.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to Material Control group which includes shippers, material control specialists, and the logistics support manager.
  • Administration and oversight of the Waste Tracking System (including entering process chains, pricing, and waste process scheduling for both LL and MW), and provide day-to-day direction to personnel assigned to use it.
  • Manage and maintain shipping and receiving schedules as necessary for daily activities as well as reports requested by the customer, sales staff, and management.
  • Communicate with sales staff and accounting personnel to ensure proper invoicing and revenue recognition.
  • Ensure all technicians within the Material Control group are properly trained/re-trained as required.
  • Conduct a Resource/Scheduling meeting or equivalent communication with departments.
  • Work with the Work Control Manager and Technical Manager in the establishment of long and short-term goals, department financial budgets and reporting.
  • Ensure all shipments and storage are compliant with current permits and applicable regulations and policies.
  • Ensure that all wastes shipped have an approved Disposal Waste Profile at the disposal facilities.
  • Ensure all Disposal Waste Profile records are filed and maintained, both electric and hard copy.
  • Help ensure site generated waste is properly characterized and managed.
  • May perform duties and responsibilities as Assistant Waste Certification Official. Reports to the Waste Certification Official for this duty/responsibility. (Must meet all training and certification requirements of AWCO).
  • Oversee efforts of the Logistics Support Manager to order and receive supplies for the facility, to include warehouse operations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience in the treatment/management of low level radioactive and/or mixed waste. Preferred qualifications include college degree in a related field and DOT, IATA, HAZMAT certifier, and other shipping related training and certifications.
  • Familiar with all aspects of plant operations including Low-Level and Mixed Waste operations as well as the administrative aspects of the business.
  • Familiar with computer software such as MS Excel, Word and Projects, as well as basic database software related to the Waste Tracking System.
  • Be self-motivated and effectively communicate in a clear and accurate manner both verbally and written.
  • Familiar with Radioactive Material Licenses, air permits, RCRA permit and operational procedures.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and management.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and statutes and waste disposal site policies and practices, such as Energy Solutions, Hanford, WCS, and NNSS Disposal.
  • Must complete and maintain currency in respiratory user, HAZWOPER, and radworker training, including related physical screening requirements.
  • Must be able to work in office and industrial settings in all weather conditions, and able to safely traverse uneven walking surfaces.

Working Conditions

Primarily working in an office-type environment with occasional field work and walkdowns in an industrial type of environment, including outside in all weather conditions. Field/facility work required where there is potential for exposure to mixed hazardous materials, radiation, noise, dust, hot and cold temperatures and chemicals.

Salary Description

$120,000-$160,000 Yearly
