Summary

POSITION:            Marketing Specialist

STATUS:                Full-time (Non-Exempt Position)

REPORTS TO:        Vice President of Marketing


SUMMARY:


Do you have a passion for Buffalo and Western New York? Visit Buffalo Niagara has a rare opening on its team for a dedicated marketing/communications professional who will help put our city and region on the radar of prospective visitors from around the world. This position will play a crucial role in crafting stories and content that position Buffalo as an exciting destination and support the marketing team in the execution of key initiatives.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or other-related degree;
  • One to three years’ experience in marketing or communications; 
  • Ability to work effectively with others;
  • Knowledge of WordPress platform;
  • Photography/ videography/ experience is a plus;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; team interaction/effectiveness; and multi-tasking ability;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Undertake other responsibilities, as required.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist in the day-to-day needs of the Marketing Department.
  • Works with social media and marketing manager to develop multimedia content for VBN’s social media channels
  • Captures and develops short form video stories about the people and places that make Buffalo a compelling visitor destination
  • Contributes to content and photo edits on the VBN website and blog.
  • Assists director of communications with itinerary outreach to industry partners for press trip creation.
  • Manages outreach to VBN blog contributors to make assignments and ensure they come in by assigned due date.
  • Edits and proofreads all VBN marketing materials.
  • Regular written contributor to the VBN blog.
  • Assists in the updating of member/partner reports, ensuring VBN’s value is conveyed to local attractions and other tourism partners.

OTHER


  • Physical demands of the job include, but are not limited to, sitting, bending and lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Some local travel may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance and own or have access to an automobile.
  • Hybrid work schedule – 3 days in office / 2 days remote; hybrid schedule is subject to change in the future.
  • Position could require occasional evening and/or weekend work.


COMPENSATION RANGE: $20.52-$23.08 per hour (37.5 hour work week) + benefits
