Summary

At Mr Fothergill's Seeds we are in the business of bringing gardens to life. Known for our exceptional range of seeds, garden products and horticultural expertise with well-known brands such as Mr Fothergill’s, Johnsons, DT Brown and Darlac our products can be found in garden centres, big retailers and direct to consumers through our websites and catalogues. We have a legacy of quality, a loyal customer base and are committed to inspiring and empowering gardeners of all levels.

We are a passionate team with a strong can-do attitude. We show respect to one another and are keen to innovate on our respective areas of expertise. We value agility, understand the journey our business is on and strive to add our unique mark onto that journey. We work hard but don’t forget to have fun. Our company purpose is “Helping Everyone Grow” and we extend that purpose to everything we do.

This isn’t just another managerial role. This is a chance to define the voice of our brands. To lead a nimble multidisciplinary creative team. To craft content that doesn’t just fill feeds—but tells stories, sparks curiosity, and shifts perceptions.

As our Copy and Content Strategy Senior Manager, you’ll be the architect of our brand voice and the driving force behind our creative engine. You’ll work across every stage of storytelling—from campaign ideation to content calendar planning to hands-on copywriting. And you’ll shape how we show up on every platform—from TikTok to print, Instagram to inboxes.

Core Responsibilities:

Content Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement the content strategy aligned with the brand’s voice, marketing objectives, and campaign goals
  • Collaborate with brand, e-commerce and Trade Marketing to ensure cohesive messaging across channels
  • Own the content calendar, ensuring timely production of assets for launches, campaigns, and ongoing needs

Creative Leadership

  • Serve as the strategic and creative lead for all brand copy and storytelling efforts
  • Create and maintain a consistent brand voice and tone across all touchpoints
  • Lead ideation for campaigns and content formats that work across online (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, email) and offline marketing channels (print ads)
  • Inspire and mentor internal creative squad while managing external freelancers (primarily videographer and photographer) or agency contributors, as and when needed

Production Oversight

  • Manage the content production process from concept to delivery—ensuring assets are delivered on time, on brand, and tailored to each channel
  • Partner with designers, video editors, and other content creators to produce assets across formats (social, digital ads, email, video, web, print etc.)
  • Maintain a high bar for quality and creativity across all output

Performance Optimization

  • Leverage existing data to track performance of content across platforms
  • Use insights and data to guide content iteration and creative testing
  • Ensure creative assets are aligned with KPIs (brand purchase funnel, core brand attributes, Conversion% and Engagement rates in line or above the agree objectives)

We are looking for someone who has 5–7 years of experience in content creation, copywriting, or content strategy—ideally in a fast-paced industry like FMCG, beauty, or fast fashion. You will think in ideas, write with personality, and lead with heart. Someone who understands the rhythm of digital content and the pulse of culture. Someone who can lead a team—and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty (figuratively… but if you love plants, literally works too). You will also have:

  • A background in a creative agency or leading in-house content/creative teams.
  • A portfolio showcasing a range of campaign and content work across digital and physical formats.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing creative teams and freelance partners.
  • Deep understanding of content needs across online and offline marketing channels.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills with ability to write for different formats and audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities; able to juggle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Experience using creative collaboration platforms (e.g., Figma, Canva, Adobe CC).
  • Familiarity with content performance metrics and A/B testing methodology.
  • A personal or professional interest in horticulture, sustainability, or wellness is a nice to have.

The world of gardening should be accessible to all and it’s important that our teams reflect the diversity of our customers, ensuring that our products meet everyone’s needs. Therefore, we very much welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates regardless of background, gender, race, religious beliefs, disability, sexual orientation, or age. We’re ‘rooting’ for you!
