Summary

Manufacturing Quality Engineer

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, leading, and managing process improvements across production and service operations. They identify and resolve organizational, production, and service-related challenges by leveraging design fundamentals, lean principles, engineering and quality tools, data analysis, and technology.


Salary: $90,000 - $95,000 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage manufacturing and service process flows, including QA checkpoints, work instructions, and operational methods sheets (OMS) for assembly, testing, and repair.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 50%).
  • Perform first-part qualification/inspection of incoming materials, document non-compliance, and determine disposition.
  • Apply Quality Engineering tools (FMEA, FTA, Root Cause Analysis, DOE) to improve products and processes.
  • Identify and deploy software tools for monitoring and reporting production and service performance.
  • Track, analyze, and provide performance data (control charts, reliability, process capability) to drive improvements.
  • Lead/participate in supplier qualifications and technical assessments, ensuring compliance with material specifications, CTQs, and quality agreements.
  • Train and support production staff, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Coordinate new product releases, managing Engineering ECOs and integrating them into production.
  • Develop Production (P)FMEA based on Design (D)FMEA results and measure Run-at-Rate, takt time, and Gauge R&R.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 certification requirements for electronics manufacturing.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions (CAPA) for audit findings and process improvements.
  • Define success metrics, track performance, and develop improvement plans.
  • Lead ISO 9001 audits, from preparation to execution and follow-ups.
  • Support QMS maintenance and continuous improvement per ISO 9001 standards.
  • Act as key liaison for UL audits and inspections, ensuring product compliance.
  • Manage vendor quality relationships, conducting audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to resolve manufacturing challenges.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong project management and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and quality software tools.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and audit processes.
  • Experience with UL certification, electronics manufacturing, and IPC-A-610 compliance.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in electronic manufacturing.
  • Expertise in quality control, failure analysis, and statistical tools (SPC, DOE, DFSS).
  • Hands-on experience with PLM, PDM, ECO, and BOM tools.
