Overview
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Intern to assist in improving our core cutting process. This hands-on role will focus on streamlining workflow, reducing waste, and increasing repeatability and accuracy in our core machining operations. The intern will play a key role in documenting procedures, organizing materials, and implementing process enhancements that support our production team.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess current methods used for storing and accessing raw core material; recommend and implement an organized system for efficient retrieval.
* Analyze and refine how work orders are released, aiming to optimize raw material usage through efficient part nesting and batch combinations.
* Organize and maintain a library of repeatable machining programs to ensure consistency and reduce rework.
* Observe, study, and document best practices and unique techniques for machining core material, developing internal knowledge resources.
* Improve the downstream flow of parts through inspection, cleaning, bagging, and storage to ensure consistent quality and traceability.
Learning Outcomes:
* Real-world experience in process improvement and lean manufacturing.
* Exposure to aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.
* Understanding of how cross-functional teams collaborate to solve production challenges.
* Experience documenting technical processes and building standard operating procedures.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
* Strong interest in hands-on process improvement, machining, or production operations.
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with team members across departments.
* Basic understanding of CNC machining is a plus but not required.
