Position Purpose
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for writing Production Operation Instruction sheets (POIS) to support the manufacturing production schedule, including instructions for detailed assemblies. This position also creates Bill of Material and Route requirements and enters the information into an ERP system.
Job Leveling
Manufacturing Engineering Technician I performs the more routine tasks and duties assigned within the series. Employees at this level may have limited experience and receive regular instruction or assistance in performing their assigned duties. Advancement to Level II is based on demonstrated proficiency in all duties and responsibilities.
Manufacturing Engineering Technician II performs the full range of duties and responsibilities assigned within the series. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of company Procedures and SOP's.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Develops a manufacturing bill of materials, work instructions and creates shop routers for the manufacture, fabrication, assembly and installation of parts and components to meet type design.
* Initiates tooling requirements to improve fabrication and assembly requirements.
* Maintains accurate records for scheduling standard work instructions.
* Identifies improvements in methods and materials and implements changes.
* Coordinates activities with diverse organizations to complete complex tasks within established schedule requirements.
* Develops and manages frozen planning for flight critical items.
* Communicates with suppliers to assist in meeting planning requirements, both processing and manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalency required; AA degree in Manufacturing Engineering and/or valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mechanic certificate with Airframe and/or Power Plant rating preferred.
* Extended and varied experience with fabrication and assembly of complex mechanisms. Ability to understand and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications and to translate these into written instructions which are easily understood by the average shop worker.
* Required previous work experience:
Level 1 - 3 years manufacturing and/or maintenance experience with rotorcraft and/ or technical writing experience preferred.
Level 2 - 3+ years writing POIS in manufacturing environment.
* Computer skills requiring the use of Microsoft Office products required; However, SolidWorks capability preferred.
* Valid Driver's License
* Must have reading, speaking, writing, and understanding skills in the English language.
