Summary/Objective

The Manufacturing Engineer will support VanTran Transformers’ production operations by developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for ensuring transformer components are produced efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Production to identify opportunities for process optimization, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Daily On-Site Attendance.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes to support production efficiency, product quality, and safety.
  • Analyze production workflows and recommend improvements to reduce waste, cost, and lead time.
  • Create and maintain accurate work instructions, routings, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability of new and existing products.
  • Provide hands-on support to resolve technical and production issues in a timely manner.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Assist in specifying and implementing tools, fixtures, and equipment to enhance production capabilities.
  • Monitor production data and metrics to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Train production staff on new processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, safety regulations, and quality systems.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Environment/Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department in the Office and Factory Floor.
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing on factory floor.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. However, depending on workload there may be occasional longer days and occasional weekends as needed. Employee is expected to work the hours necessary in order to timely and satisfactorily complete all necessary work tasks.

Travel

Travel is not required for this position.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role required.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and experience with ERP systems required.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles required.
  • Experience in electrical transformer or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred.
  • Familiarity with welding, brazing, and electrical assembly processes preferred.
