Job Description:

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining manufacturing processes, bill of materials (BOMs), routings, and engineering specifications. This role will work closely with the engineering department to support design for manufacturing, ensure product quality, develop standard part assemblies, and optimize manufacturing capabilities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Analyze master schedule of long-range projections for completion and delivery targets of finished product; determine target date for receipt of materials required.
  • Utilize the system to project requirements planning; analyze stock, units on order, future requirements, and other production-related data; make recommendations for project requirements.  Responsible for maintaining just-in-time inventory.
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement and manage the Afinitas Issue Tracker for quality and engineering revision EVM projects
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings
  • Support machining operations by identifying and routing outsourced items efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine the disposition of materials and expedite the flow of materials as needed; work with engineering in the substitution of materials as required.
  • Conduct pre- and post-design/manufacturing reviews to ensure product quality and manufacturability
  • Assist in design for manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, focusing on cost control and design-to-budget objectives
  • Develop building instructions, jigs, and fixturing to support manufacturing processes
  • Manage timely drawing updates and ensure engineering BOM changes are properly controlled in the manufacturing environment
  • Support product quality assurance processes
  • Coordinate with engineering to develop and maintain manufacturing standards and specifications
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing-related design challenges
  • Manage project cost control throughout the design and manufacturing processes

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, BOM management, and engineering coordination
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product design principles
  • Proficiency in engineering and manufacturing software (CAD, ERP systems)
  • Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is an office position associated with a manufacturing facility, with travel to customer plants. The employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the employer when in manufacturing areas.
