Summary

Advanced Mission Partners (AMP) a wholly owned subsidiary of SSAI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative manufacturing team in Linthicum, MD. As a Manufacturing Engineer at AMP, you will play a key role in optimizing our production processes and ensuring the efficient manufacture of our products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, implement innovative solutions, and drive operational excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects and make a meaningful impact on our manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties:

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Design and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments for new manufacturing initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process instructions, work procedures, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize manufacturing performance.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and designs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects, to streamline processes and reduce waste.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production deviations and quality issues.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.

Skills:

  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design and modeling.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, DOE).
  • Experience with manufacturing technologies such as CNC machining, injection molding, or additive manufacturing
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related role.
  • 2+ years experience with Factory Logix environment.
  • 10+ years of experience with Surface Mount Technology.
  • 5+ years experience with Operation & Programming of SPI/AOI equipment.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Ability to receive and maintain an active security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Experience with hot air rework equipment.
  • 5+ years experience with Operation, Programming and Maintenance of JUKI manufacturing equipment.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
