Description
The main function of a manufacturing process engineer is to direct the development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment. This team resides in the General Assembly pillar of the plant in the trim shop, they are currently working with suppliers to get automated tooling bought off before bringing it into the plant next year. This person will be the "four wall owner" of a dedicated area in GA and are responsible for all tooling going into that area. Current state, they are working with suppliers to build the tooling to company specifications while simultaneously working with the teams to get the plant floor layout ready for when the equipment is due to be received by the plant. They will manage this at a high level, almost at a program management type role. They own all incoming equipment within their dedicated area.
* Propose and evaluate manufacturing process and equipment for assigned areas.
* Meet plant goals and standards in safety quality delivery and cost.
* Coordinate the effective use of personnel materials and equipment in supporting SPQRC initiatives.
* Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
* Provide technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations.
* Works closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.
* Analyze tooling and equipment and select proper steps for solution.
* Communicate with internal and external business units.
* Support plants in achieving Safety People Quality Responsiveness and Cost goals.
* Support and implement the QS9000/ISO14001/GMS Global Manufacturing System compliance processes.
Must Haves:
* 2-3 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer handling tooling qualification responsibility, he's not specific on the type of tooling they just need experience qualifying tooling/machinery.
* Strong Interpersonal skills - This person will oversee anything that comes into their zone, and they'll need to effectively communicate cross functionally with Engineering, UAW, senior leadership, and the supplier base.
* 2-3 years' experience with Plant Manufacturing.
* Ability to work OT on an as needed basis.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
