Maritime Applied Physics Corporation (MAPC) is a Baltimore based engineering, research, development, and production company focused on marine technologies. We have a current opening for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Baltimore, Maryland office to assist in the management and completion of maritime technology development programs.

Primary responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer role is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for various programs, with a primary focus on Small USV production. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with transitioning the product from a low volume initial production rate to full scale production. Typical responsibilities are:


- Managing the vessel documentation package (BOM, Drawings) and processing ECNs

- Developing robust work instructions

- Designing Jigs, fixtures and specialty shop tools

- Assisting with the integration of payloads, options & new parts

- Working on the shop floor to address issues related to throughput, quality & cost

- Working with the vendor network to identify cost saving opportunities

- Working with the manufacturing and testing teams to streamline processes


Candidates should expect to occasionally coordinate and participate in on-site vendor audits and program support activities. Typical travel is < 10% and within the United States.


Qualifications

Required

Experience with CAD (SolidWorks is highly preferred)

Some experience in a manufacturing environment (welding, assembly, machining background)

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

The ability to use basic hand and power tools

Preferred

Past experience as a manufacturing or product integration engineer

Experience with jig and fixture design

Direct welding, machining or outfitting experience

Affinity for or experience working with boats and marine projects
