JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes to ensure safe efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to enhance production workflows, implement process improvements, supporting equipment and automation initiatives, and maintaining manufacturing documentation. The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on reducing waste, improving cycle times, and supporting continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Develop And Optimization Manufacturing Processes: Work closely with Product Engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Develop and implement process control methods to ensure consistent production quality. Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and workflow optimization projects. Work with production teams to improve workstation layout, material flow, and ergonomics.
  • Provide Equipment & Automation Support: Supports the implementation of new equipment and automation solutions to enhance production efficiency. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues in a timely manner. Support the development of preventive maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment. Work with vendors and suppliers to source and install new machinery or upgrades. Provide technical support to Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams for manufacturing best practices.
  • Ensure Appropriate Standardization & Documentation: Create and maintain standardized work instructions, process documentation, and best practices. Develop and update plant layout drawings to reflect changes in equipment, production lines, and workstations. Create and maintain drawings including tolerancing and revision control.
  • Improve Quality and Embrace Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies to reduce defects and waste. Work with the Quality team to address manufacturing defects and implement corrective actions utilizing Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach. Lead and support continuous improvement events and process improvement projects. Support Purchasing and Supply Chain teams in evaluating materials, vendors, quality improvement and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies, including ISO, OSHA, EPA, DEC, DOH.
  • May perform other related tasks and duties as deemed appropriate by management.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal fabrication and CNC machining.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and automation technologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, CNC machining, metal fabrication, and automation.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor/Vault preferred), Mastercam (or similar CAM software), and ERP systems.
  • Exposure to GD&T (incl. ANSI Y14), Lean Manufacturing principles, and statistical process control (SPC) preferred.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Office 365 / Microsoft 365 tools
  • Good communication and project management abilities.
  • Must be able to work hands-on in an industrial manufacturing environment and collaborate across departments.


EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred in relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering), or related technical field. Significant directly related hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of relevant degree.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works in both office and shop floor environments.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and/or kneel for extended periods of time and work near machinery.
  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor visits or equipment installation.
