Location: West Chicago, IL

Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire/Direct-Hire

Shift/Hours: 1st, 7am-3:30pm + Occasional OT.

Base Salary: $33-$44/hr

About the Opportunity:

The Manual Machinist will be able to work under minimal supervision to set up and operate manually controlled metal working machines for use in the fabrication, repair and modification of equipment, parts and tooling used in the apparatus repair industry.

Job Duties:

  • Use sound mechanical procedures in repairing equipment.
  • Observe Company policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Information Guide.
  • Follow all Company safety policies and wear appropriate safety gear.
  • Follow the direction of your immediate supervisor and his subordinates.
  • Must treat all company tools and tooling as your own and report any defects to your supervisor.
  • Must be able act in a courteous and professional manner at all times while conducting Company Business.
  • Must be able to accurately estimate time and materials needed to complete a job.
  • Must be responsible for the accurate and complete documentation of Company forms and records.
  • Must be able to take responsibility for completing a job to the satisfaction of the customer and Management
  • The work must meet, or exceed all customer, company, and applicable quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least a high school education with a diploma.
  • Must have at least 5 years of “on the job” experience.
  • Must be able to read, write English fluently.
  • Must have the ability to understand industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and equipment manuals.
  • Must be proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments such as Micrometers, Dial Indicators etc.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Metalworking Engine Lathes, Vertical Milling Machines, Drill Presses, Vertical and Horizontal Saws, Hydraulic Presses, Broaches, Grinders
  • Must be able to properly and safely select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
  • Must be able to accurately estimate time and materials needed to complete a job.
  • Must have knowledge of the properties of various metals, alloys and their machinability.
  • Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
  • Experience with welding to build up worn surfaces is a plus
  • Must have good organizational skills, and keep a neat and orderly work area.
  • Must exhibit good personable skills and be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be physically fit and pass the company physical.
  • Must be willing to perform occasional after hours service.
