Description
Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC a world class supplier of power generation services, parts and repairs, has an immediate opening for a qualified individual who has a desire to join a growing organization and an appetite for diverse and technically challenging work.
As a manual machinist, you will apply knowledge of high precision machining, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set-up and operate a variety of manual machines including Engine Lathe and/or VTLs. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications. Use basic math skills to calculate dimensions and tolerances. Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy using bore gauges and other measuring instruments. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop new products or improve existing ones. Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to assemble, weld, fabricate, and finish parts.
This is a full-time day shift position for an introduction period of approximately 90 days which, upon, the selected candidate will then be placed in a 1st or 2nd shift role depending on where there is a need at that time.
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work.
- Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Read work orders and/or production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimension and tolerances.
- Start and run machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
- Adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe, working environment.
- Support other areas of the shop as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations within the area.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective.
- Ability to read and use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
- Good organizational skills
- Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment
- Good computer skills
