The Office of Mainland Affairs (OMA) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Manager. This role is essential in supporting HKUST's strategic initiatives and fostering collaborations with key stakeholders in Mainland China. The successful candidate will be instrumental in hosting incoming visits, coordinating partnerships, and facilitating various cooperative efforts to ensure the effective execution of HKUST's Mainland strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Hosting Incoming Visits: Plan, coordinate, and host visits from key stakeholders, including government officials, senior executives from state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and representatives from prominent Mainland universities and research institutions. Ensure all visits are organized to align with HKUST's strategic objectives.
Coordination and Facilitation: Serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating cooperative initiatives between HKUST and Mainland partners. This includes matching university resources with external opportunities and fostering long-term partnerships.
Strategic Support: Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans to enhance HKUST's engagement in Mainland China. Support senior management in identifying and pursuing new collaboration opportunities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, SOEs, academic institutions, and industry partners. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration at all levels.
Event Management: Organize and manage high-profile events, meetings, and conferences that promote HKUST's initiatives and strengthen ties with Mainland partners. Ensure the flawless execution of all events, reflecting the university's values and goals.
Crisis Management and Adaptability: Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected challenges with professionalism and efficiency. Ensure all activities are conducted with a high level of adaptability.
Administrative Duties: Provide administrative support, including preparing reports, managing budgets, and maintaining accurate records. Ensure all activities are well-documented and adhere to institutional policies.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in communication, public administration, international relations, or a related field.
Significant experience in hosting high-level visits, coordinating partnerships, and facilitating collaborations, preferably within a higher education or research institution.
Proven experience in handling VIPs, government officials, and senior executives, with a strong understanding of protocol and diplomacy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
High adaptability, problem-solving skills, and the capacity to execute tasks efficiently under pressure.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview and written test. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
